Paladugu Nagaiah Chowdary & Kotha
Raghuramaiah Degree College, popularly known as P.N.C.
& K.R. Degree College, was established in the year 1991
at Narasaraopet, " the entrance to the circar districts" and birth place of many stalwarts in the fields of politics,
education, socio-cultural and literature, under the patronage of Dr.
Medarametla Sivalinga Prasada Rao, a medico and philanthropist.
With a view to providing an alternative mode of education in the new
millennium, the college is imparting the need based education to the students
of the Palanadu and its neighboring areas spreading in Guntur and Prakasam
districts since 1991. The
institution is gradually growing in strength.
It is run on sound
educational lines and strict discipline is maintained.
The student results are much better when compared to the institutions
situated in and around Narasaraopet. The
college permanent buildings were inaugurated by Sri
N.T. Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister
of Andhra Pradesh, on 29th May 1995.
The P.N.C. & K.R. Degree College is a fulfledged college with
difference in the Nagarjuna University
area. It is centrally located in
a seven acres serene campus at Narasaraopet, possessing rare geographical
advantage which vey few institutions enjoy.
To cater to the needs of the students the college has a modern equipped
Auditorium that can seat nearly 700
students, a fulfledged Seminar Hall with Audio-Video facilities, a well
equipped 4 Computer Labs with 100+ Pentium
Systems connected through LAN and Windows NT environment, a well laid out play
ground and Internet Access. There
are separate Class Rooms and Laboratories for Post-Graduate, Degree and
Intermediate Courses. The College
has 2 Libraries, One for Post Graduate
Courses and the other for Degree and Intermediate Students.
For any educational institution, it is the Principal who plays a
pivotal role in its growth and development.
The College is fortunate in having Sri Gali
Subba Rao as the founder - Principal.
He is an embodiment of discipline and it is selfless service for the 25
years now and the vigilance eye which has helped this institution grow from
pillar to pillar with over 1600 students (in
P.G., Degree and Intermediate Courses) and about 100 teaching and 50
Non-Teaching Staff. With his firm
conviction and ardent desire towards the standards and discipline, he has
brought the name and fame for the P.N.C. & K.R. Degree College, a premier
and distinguished educational institution par excellence in the state, as
Special Officer. The college,
which has been catering to the educational needs of the people in and around
of Narasaraopet since its inception fairly well is celebrating its Silver
Jubilee Celebrations of the Intermediate
College and Tenth Anniversary Celebrations
of the Degree College beginning from
June, 2000.
The College
has fully equipped laboratories for all Science Subjects including Food &
Nutrition and an Air-Conditioned Computer Centres as well. The degree college Computer Labs were inaugurated by Prof.
Kotha Sachidananda Murthy, Former Vice-Chairman of the University
Grants Commission and Prof. Y.C. Simhadri,
the then Vice-Chancellor of Nagarjuna
University, on 18th March, 1994, respectively.
By the desire of the Secretary & Correspondent of the College, many
new Science Courses which were not available in many other degree colleges,
were started. This college was one
of the first few colleges approved by the All India Council for Technical
Education (AICTE), New Delhi, to start MCA
Courses in Nagarjuna University area to meet the burgeoning manpower
requirements of the I.T. Industry in the new millenium.
The centrally Air-donditioned MCA Lab, with 33 Pentium Systems, was
inaugurated by Prof. K. Rama Murthy Naidu,
the then Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education,
Government of A.P. , on 29th December, 1995.
The B.C.A. Courses was also started from the academic year 1998-99 and
it was inaugurated by Dr. Kodela Siva Prasada Rao,
the then Minister for Panchayath Raj and Rural Development, Government of A.P.,
on 11th December, 1998. It
is hoped that some more new courses will be added soon in the college.
The College Library has 6,148
Volumes now and it also houses the reading room with 100 magazines and
journals from India and abroad. The Post-Graduate Courses alone contains over 3,500 volumes
exclusively for the Bio-chemistry and Computer Science Courses.
The Library keeps opene from 8.00 AM to 8.00 PM.
The College students securing University
Ranks in P.G. and Degree Examinations by imparting quality
education, winning the hearts of every one.
The Staff of the college consists of about 100 erudite members (both
Inter, Degree & P.G. Courses) and all of them are not only duty -minded
but also affectionate to students, clarifying their doubts all the time.
The Non-teaching staff are efficient and devoted to duty.
With the establishment of the P.N.C. & K.R. College at Narasaraopet,
the long felt desire of the Post - Graduate Courses in Computer Applications
and Information Technology is being fulfilled by the people of Palnadu area
and its neighbouring places.
There is no gift worthier and nobler than "Vidyadana".
In our country, providing education to the needy and poor is not merely
a service, but a hoary tradition practised since vedic times.
It is said that one who offers education is placed among the vedas.
It is hoped that the Paladugu Nagaiah Chowdary & Kotha Raghuramaiah
Degree College and its sister institutions will be developed into an
impeccable academic institutions in the near future and live upto its motto:
